    No see um baffle question

Hey all, I am making an UQ for my ridge runner and have a few questions----------I am using no see um netting for baffles---when you sew the netting to the top and bottom of the quilt, do you use just one line of stitching? Also, how much seam allowance to you use on the netting, and do you fold the edges over and sew thru both layers? Thanks for the help!
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

You should see just one row of stitching. I use to fold and sew through both layers but someone convinced me that was unnecessary Jus make sure you have at least 1/4 inch seam allowance.

I use 1/4" to 1/2" seam allowance. I mark the sew lines on the fabric and on the netting and just sew freehand - much quicker, and less holes poked in the material.

No need for a hem on the noseeum.

Ditto! Took a while for me to do that also , finally made a test piece and abused it with no detectable difference...Just keep the 1/4 to 1/2 seam allowance.

    stevebo,

Just as everyone else has said, no fold and make sure sure you keep a good 1/4 seam allowance. I have used both noseeum and the nanoseeum the same way, and both are still going strong after more than a year.

No fold, exactly 1/4" seam allowance. Keep the seam allowance consistent or else your baffle height will vary.

ANY help or links on HOW-TO DIY this?

Hello All, I'm an new member here and want to at least think about HOW to make an UQ. I'm learning a lot but have way more to learn than I learnED!

Anyway, I'm using the "search" feature and not finding the very simple (or not) how-to-do-this.

Pictures would be nice...a step by step as well.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!
    _John

That seems like it would work well, I just might try that sometime...
