If any body that orders the quilt in the med size decides they really don't need it or doesn't like it I would possibly be persuaded to give one a new home.

What's with the shoes. I know it's early in the morning, but I can't find a way to see the price let alone put it in the shopping cart. Anyone hike in their shoes?

i just scored a golite ultra 20 quilt for $135

    Thanks for the FYI.

I've been looking to get a lighter and smaller pack. This deal made the decision for me. Just bought a Pinnacle.

i saw on another site they recently sold the manufacturing of their shoes from timberland to some other company. that may be why they're unavailable for the sale

Sweet, I got an ultra 20 for $135. What a bargain! Now I don't even have to go on a backpacking trip with Mike, I end up buying something every time he makes a post.

I'm wondering if the Pertex Endurance at the footbox and head is as useful (or needed) for controlling the condensation in the hammock application? A very different micro climate as compared to a closed-in single wall tent.

I put a 100 miles or so on their shoes a couple years ago. Nice and light, but not for me. The tong didn't have enough padding and was hurting the top of my foot. The spike strips soles work great on the trail. but not so good on pavement or rocks. I could feel them pushing at the soles of my feet. I think duribility is also sacraficed for weight. Works for some, but not for me.

I too have kicked around the idea of the Golite Ultra 20...at the end of the day, I'm excersising self control and saying NO!
(it helps that I'm really happy with my 15*F-30*F set-up)
    That is an outstanding price...

Andy, you are a model for us all. Good job on that self-constraint.

Now me, I'd look at that quilt and figure "Dang, that looks like a perfect quilt for hammocking. Light, compact, warm in the temperature range I do most of my camping in. I'd better buy it". Which is exactly what I did several months ago when it was on a 30% sale somewhere else.

And indeed it is everything I'd hoped for. It is remarkable how compact that quilt can become in the pack. And I know it's good to at least 30 F, been there with it.

Did it matter that I have, ah, several other quilts (remember, I have to equipment for 3). No. Always looking to dial in on that extra bit of lost weight or increased space in the pack, usually able to rationalize it on a what seems to be a break-through piece of gear towards that end.

Indeed, you're a model for us all.

[me, I snagged an Ion from this sale...do I need another pack? Don't ask...]

I must have more self control than I thought not to get another quilt, or 4 quilts and a sleeping bag are enough.
