I decided to actually make a rain fly instead of just continuing to look at my fabric. I bought this fabric locally at a Hancock fabric store for $2.00/yd plus a 30% discount on their sale table. Not sure of the weight but it is very light. I made a jig to mark my curves but didn’t use a calculator. The cuts came out fine and I TI (thread injected) a rolled him around entire tarp. I got the idea for the jig from HF but do not remember who posted it. It worked great. I also got the idea for my ridge seam from HF. I apologize that I cannot give the proper credit to the people who posted these great tips but they worked great. The ridge hem is just a straight seam with 7/8 inch grosgrain ironed in a crease and TI over the tarp seam extending out past the tarp edge. I then folded it back over itself and TI it to itself to create the tie out loops. The dimensions of the tarp are 12x10. I will try the diluted silicone soak method to waterproof it. I will post pictures when I get to hang it. And no, this is not really my TI room, its my sons school gym on a weekend. The space was great to get everything spread out.
