Hello from the Foothills of NC

My name is Zak and I have been hiking and camping since I was a little kid. I am primarily a day hiker now but would like to get back into camping eventually and thought I would try a hammock. I frequent the Linville Gorge, NC as often as I can and primarily go there.

My primary purpose of a hammock right now would be for an emergency situation if I were to get stuck out somewhere. I carry enough gear with me on day hikes to stay out if I had to but other than a tarp and an emergency bivvy, I have no sleep system. I would love to have a lightweight and affordable hammock that I could carry in my day pack that could be easily set up if the situation arose.

I'm completely new to the idea so I look forward to researching and learning a lot about it.

Welcome to the forum I am relatively new also, but I can assure you there is a wealth of knowledge here....

Hey Zak! Look for me and Mr. Pips (Cat Daddy) dayhiking at least once a week in the WNC mountains with our hammocks. We set them up for lunch and naps on every hike. It only takes about two minutes to set up and SOOOOO comfortable! You're definitely on the right track.

    Welcome from Burnsville!!!

Welcome from SC. The hammock is simple and easy--it's all the accoutrements that get interesting.
Keep movin', keep believing and enjoy the journey!

    Welcome from Philly.
When I was a kid the only time we were in the house was to eat and sleep.
