    Tablecloth factory weights

    Hi all.

Does anyone know weight baring of a gathered end hammock made from 1 layer if crinkle taffeta from tableclothsfactory would be? At what weight would you go to a double layer?

I believe a single layer is 14.5 ounces. Don't have an opinion on weight-bearing capacity, but I have one DL tablecloth hammock and one single.

I am just wondering at what weight limit one would switch from 1 layer to 2.

You can find tales on HF of a single layer easily supporting 400 lbs., but I'd probably go for a double layer if I weighed anywhere north of 285.

Wow that much? So under 200 should easily be ok. Thanks for the help.

I've had no trouble with a single layer, and I weigh 185.

    Hello all first post here.

I just built a single layer tablecloth gather end hammock yesterday evening. This was my first and I was interested in testing out the overall "tuffness" of this hammock. So I hung the hammock and jumped in. I weight right at 300lb (big boned) and the hammock held strong and was quite comfortable. I then piled on my son at 70lbs and my daughter at 55lbs. I know this is not a scientific test but I did have over 400lbs including two wiggling and bouncing children. I examined all the component after and could not find any signs of stress or tearing.

With that said the whole thing could far apart tomorrow but as of right now I could not be more please with a hammock that cost about 20 bucks in materials total.

    Thanks,

    Chris

    Welcome bcavery,
And thank you for the fun un-scientific testing results
