Actually, this forum is the most comprehensive hammock site on the internet, bar none.

For the short summary version, try http://www.tothewoods.net/HammockCamping.html

    Welcome aboard!

and it doesn't have to be two trees that you have to tie to, could be almost anything that's solid. I have mine setup in three different places inside my house, and three outside my house. You can tie one end under the tire of your car, over the roof for one end, then to whatever single pole or tree on the other. Rocks work too .....

Welcome, I use a doublenest for all of my camping. I paired it with a Jacks-R-Better Cat Tarp. It's huge...probably a little too big if you're going for ultralight gear. It's big enough that you can almost rig it up so you're totally enclosed.

Concerning tarps, you may want to consider one with a length a couple of feet longer than your hammock for good coverage.

Welcome to HF! AND to hanging!

I love this site!!! Not only is it full of information, it's also a hoot to read. Finally, I have found people that get my sense of humor. I tested out some new gear last night in the Great Minnesota -12 weather. Beautiful full moon and a warm campfire, doesn't get much better than that.

adamsw3--congrats on your eagle, and on finding your way here. Yep, there is a lot to sift through to find information, but you sure can learn a lot--some things you were looking for, and lots of things that you didn't know you needed or wanted, but you will be so glad you found. Welcome and happy trails!
