Advice sought - before I make a purchase, I seek your wisdom

Well, I've been circling on this and researching for weeks. I want to buy a hammock. (Shocking, I realize...)

Now, I have criteria, so this beggar is going to be a chooser...

    1 - 300+ lbs weight rating
    2 - bridge style
3 - prefer it not to be camo (fwiw)

Happy to mix and match gear here, too.

I keep ending up back at Clark, but think I'd prefer the Lawson style or the Eureka Chrysalis style, though neither can support my weight.

Maybe I'm over thinking this, but its a fairly substantial purchase, so it pays to think first and spend second.

So, am I missing anything here gang?

Bridge style sheet for a plump hanger?

Thanks for your time and input.

I have a Warbonnet Ridge Runner and love it. I'm a little lighter than you but I believe Warbonnet offers if not just does it automatically now a stronger head spreader bar that is good above 300lbs. I debated a lot on which bridge hammock to get and granted I haven't tried any other but I do love the Ridge Runner. I'm planning on making a 12ft gathered end hammock soon once I have time. Email Brandon at Warbonnet I'm sure he can help you out. I also believe Warbonnet is cheaper than Clark.

Just curious - have you ever slept in a hammock, and why is your heart set on a bridge?

Yes, and it was a bridge. Loved it.

Now, however, I have a medical condition that leaves me preferring a flatter lay, on my side, so I'm drawn in this direction.

Should have mentioned this earlier... I'm 6 feet tall.

Sounds like a call to WB might be worth it next week, too, to explore that option further.

A jrb bmbh deluxe meets all your criteria but its just 50 lbs short. Maybe a custom RR is the way to go.

A brand not mentioned yet is Jacks-R-Better. They make bridge hammocks. You might send them email with your requirements, to see what they have or can recommend.

Or maybe another member could cook you up a custom diy bridge.

Almost all of them are just short of my needs... but maybe 'tis I who exceeds in this case.

This looks like a job for ... Super Phone and Plastic Man! With a single dial he requests custom work and funds the project!

Ya, just looking at Warbonnets site it looks like he is using 1.1 double layer will hold 250lbs and that is probably conservative. But a double layer 1.7 or 1.9 would probably be plenty good to hold you. I'm 6'3" and find length is not a issue.

I'm sure the bmbh deluxe will work well then, its 1.9 DL
