    NEW(old) Singer 201-2 got questions

I just got a Singer 201-2 with a knee pedal. Its in almost perfect condition, and has a lot of attachments (zig-zag with extra different knobs, 2 button holers, couple others I think too). Its been passed down through the family to me. I'll get some pictures up soon. I believe its a late 1940's model, it doesn't have the etched (or engraved) plate.

Anybody else using one of these machines? Any tips you can give me for starting using it? Any common problems that occur?

Its a beautiful machine and I want to keep it that way. Looks like original wiring so I got a guy who is going to help me replace it. I've heard after 70 years those wire can get brittle and cause fires.

I have the original manual that I am reading through. Figure I will try and learn what I can before getting going. I also need to rearrange my place to fit a new sewing machine into the mix. I may have to take down my hammock stand to fit the new machine.

That is a great machine, very basic but very smooth operation

Already many good links put up here, clean and service the motor will help a lot also

I am looking for one of the zigzag attachments if you run across extras

Nice! That's going to last another 70 years or more if taken care of.
