Well I might be a weirdo. The very first time I hammock camped was on our mission trip in Mexico. I braved my very first time sleeping in my hammock, setting it up at night among a hundred other people scrambling to get their tents set up. I had no guarantee I'd have a place to hang it. But you know what, I wasn't worried. O spent a year researching. Reading this site everyday. I decided to save my $ on getting crap that didn't work and go for a great system that came with all I needed. I love my Clark NX 250!!! The best thing I've ever bought. And because I got something great to start with it made me want to get into the other facets of the hobby. It's worth it to start out with something cool like a Clack or Hennessey set ups.

The nylon strapping may leave you on the ground by morning. It stretches. You may want to consider polyester. I have a local source that sells a 2400' case for around $40.00. Show us some pics of the dyed fabric when you make one.

I've hung from nylon, it doesn't stretch *that* much. I've talked about this in other threads. In fact earlier in *this* thread.

Has anyone actually used one of the Grand Trunk Skeeter Beeter Pro hammocks before? I'm trying to put together an inexpensive hammock set for my freind for our trip into Mink Lake in Algonquin Park this coming spring. We're planning a 4 day 3 night trip. Both our budjets are tight but I already have all the gear we need except for his hammock, rainfly and under insulation (most likely will be a blue pad).

Yes, my wife and I used them for a backpacking trip before we started making them. They served us well, but I found mine to be too short, I'm 6'3". For the money, they're a good budget netted hammock.

Thanks. He's about 5'8, do you think that he'll have a problem with it being too short? If he like it he's going to get one for his wife too, but if he doesnt he'll probably stay with a tent and I'll never get him hanging lol

I think that's probably going to be alright for him. My wife is 5'8" and did not find hers to be as uncomfortable as I found mine. She says she definitely prefers her 11' now, but the length of the SBP did not prevent her from sleeping well.
