I'm posting this because since they are only ten, that qualifies them as new hangers. They usually sleep in bed, but last night they decided to try the bunk hammocks.

Wish i could buy a gear guide tarp.... But they have been sold out for awhile and have no idea when they will be available again... I have a WB superfly, but looking for a cheaper tarp that is solid for my son..

You might also consider using a brown/silver poly tarp from walmart. It isnt the lightest or the prettiest but it works. It was the tarp i ised for my first year of hammock camping before i was comfortable enough to thread inject a silnylon tarp. You can even put cat cuts in it to make it look "cooler" for him: https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...x-Cat-Cut-Tarp
Awesome dude, thanks so much.. I just purchased the Chinook, 40.00 off amazon... Just what i was looking for, went with the 12 x 9.6 closes up on stormy nights like WB superfly...
Okay folks I will be making my first hammock purchase and believe I have it narrowed down to two options.
Hennessy Hammock Explorer Delux Asym Zip
WBBB Double layer 1.7 XLC
I am wanting to get a good hammock that can serve me well for a long time. At this point this is my budget. I like the package that HH offers in that I get a seemingly good hammock and a tarp in one package. The hesitation with it is if in the long run I would be much happier with the WBBB XLC. If I get the WBBB XLC I will probably go cheap on a tarp to start and upgrade to a good one down the road. This does seem like long term the best option but the price is higher and the wait on buying a good tarp would probably be a few months for me.
So would the HH serve me fine or would I be better off getting the WBBB XLC first?
thank you in advance
Hey All,Imho wbbb xlc and wal mart tarp is way to go,if you do like it you can get 95% of your money back!
I have both the HH an WBBB XLC...both awesome. The integrated tarp on HH is fine, but not a lot of coverage. Either way, plan on getting a larger tarp. Have Fun!
The Warbonnet will have better resale value it you decide you want something different.
Keep movin', keep believing and enjoy the journey!
Hello, new here!
So I'm already familiar with hammock camping, have some 3 month travel experience with it. But now I am lookingmto improve my insulation equipment.
As for now I am using a subpar method of sleeping bag + sleeping mat, but I do not enjoy this.
The challenge is:
1. Stay warm in 3 seasons, on a round the world trip, NO winter, the coldest night would probably be 40 F, but won't happen often, maybe for a month total, majority should be warmer than 59 F.
2. Be as light as possible. I am looking to save as much weight as possible.
3. No sleeping mat.
4. Top + bottom insulation. (Full length bottom probably preferred, unless you strongly believe 3/4 is the way).
5. Price isn't a great problem, but the cheaper the better.
I didn't want to make a separate post out of this, as I'm new and don't want to make a mess on the forums, but maybe this would be a good discuccion for a standalone post?
