If you could only have ONE... UQ or TQ?

Say you could only have one, an underquilt or a topquilt, which would you pick?

    underquilt.
Sleepingbag or blanket is closer to top quilt then pad is to underquilt.

Barely even a choice for most I think. Underquilt first.

UQ. Top can be anything, UQ is special purpose.

    UQ.

I have been hanging for a few years now. I have a really good UQ. I am still using a sleeping bag for in the hammock. It's about time for me to get a real TQ.

I say Top Quilt. It is more versatile.

A pad can be used beneath you. Or in different conditions you can use the Top Quilt as an UQ and then use something else on top.

I would do an underquilt first.

If you get a JRB Hudson River you can have both. If you're comfort oriented you can use it as an UQ with a SB as a TQ. Or if you're weight oriented you can use it as a TQ and use a pad under you.

I'd much rather have an underquilt with a sleeping bag or a blanket, than a topquilt with a pad.
