Finished making my 12x8 hex tarp using 3 of the 6x8 diamonds. Came out alright. I even used the webbing on the corners again. So I did not need to buy any new parts. So for $15 bucks, I'm happy about it. I'll post pictures tomorrow in the day light. Don't look to close, I just used whatever thread I could grab. Some stitching is gray, black, blue or magenta. I even used the extra bags for corner reinforcements.

Ultimate Survival Technologies BASE Hex Tarp

Here are some pics of the 3 diamonds reconfigured into a hex.

Hung over a Dream Hammock DangerBird. I not ready for that kind of DIY.

Multi-colored stitching on reinforcement corner. And reusing 1” webbing and original guy lines. Only thing I added was orange 2.2 zing it for the ridge line.

Disadvantage or salvaging fabric is not having proper extra material for seams. The center seams do not line up.

Still need to seam seal. But as I say for $15. I'm very happy about it. Still lighter that my existing Coleman Sunshade tarp. And having the aluminized layer I'm hoping it will give me cooler shade like my Coleman does.

What a great project. Nice pics! It gives some great coverage and stays in a reasonable price range.

I just ordered one like the OP and plan on doing the assymetrical hang on it. I won't have the chance to set it up for a while, but when I do, I'll take photos and post here.

Has anyone been able to test out the asym hang on it? I like the idea of its length being 115", but wanted to see if there are any pics to verify that it works out ok. Amazon has them for $32 bucks right now

I used it last night. It was great for my young son, but took some work to get mine lined up perfectly for my hammock. If you are short, these will work, they will need hung close to the top of the hammock. I didn't get any pictures, but I plan to next time.
