Setting up tarp ridgeline with DutchWare

I needed to make a DutchWare continuous ridge line setup for my son to use for his tarp, so I decided to video the process. I install a Dutch Hook in one end of the tarp ridge line with a locked Brummel splice and connect a continuous loop to the tarp D ring for it to clip into. The other end of the ridge line is connected to a Stingerz or a Tarp Flyz that has been spliced into another continuous loop. It's a little long, but I thought it was worth showing most of the splicing process.

Thanks for the kind words (and sitting through 30+ minutes of video).

BTW, the 34' length was used so I can get around 2 18" diameter trees that are 20' apart assuming a 12' tarp ridge line.

Thanks again. Just finished a loop for the end of my guy line, with the buried end on the other end that passes through my line lock. Makes the whole rig a bit neater.

Hey Doogie, thanks for this video. I want to try splicing on a Dutch hook on one end and this is the info I needed. One question is the wire you use for splicing. It looks like a loop of wire, correct? What gauge is it and is there anything else I should know about it? Thanks for the informative how-to video.

    Indeed. Thanks for the video.

I use some crafting wire that I had on hand. At 24 gauge, it's a little thin even doubled over so it takes some patient milking along the wire to keep it from bending too much. When I run out, I think I'll look at getting some wire 20 gauge.

I am using an old guitar string, I think it was a B string. Any thin guage wire works ok. There are some threads with descriptions of different items used. I have heard of people using guitar strings (E, B or G) florest wire, hobby wire, fishing leaders. I have always used the guitar strings (broke an E string). Hope that helps.

Awesome video doogie. I'll be doing this in a few weeks when gear arrives. Hope mine turns out as well as yours did. Thank you for the vid.
