    Radius on a hammock ends?

I got the material to make my new hammocks. I got some 1.6 to do a 11-12 foot and some 1.1 to do a 10.5-11 foot hammock. I will be making the 1.6 tomorrow. I notice most hammock designs are rectangles. I was wondering if anyone tried making some outward radiuses on the ends before sewing. I am curious how the lay would be. Anyone. I may try it and make the hammock 12feet long and if I don't like it recut and sew the normal way. Thanks in advance.

That is what I'm working on is cutting the end on a radius. Calculations are 60" cord with a segment of 6" would give you an extra foot in the center of the hammock which should eliminate any calf pressure. I will be making a template to do the cut. It calculates as a 6.5 radius. I will be making a DL and haven't got my 1.9 ripstop yet.

    That's 6.5 ft radius.

Ya the calve thing is what I am trying to somewhat fix. I am 5,7 and the eno double is not really that comfortable. I don't know the exact length but I know the 1.6 will be a longer hammock. maybe I will try your measurements. I know Saturday night how it works.

If I am looking at it correctly this would make the shorter hammocks more comfortable as my shorter ones have more calf pressure. That's what drove me to a 11 hammock.

I'm fairly certain others have posted regarding the concept before this model came to market. There's a thread around here somewhere I think.....

Hoping to at least get up to Mauthe Lake sometime Sat, even if I can't camp, and will bring my 11' Streamliner with me. I'll check with my son and see if he'll let Dad bring his 10 footer as well

There have been several other discussions on this method, most seemed pleased with the results. You should be able to find the other discusions fairly easy.

good luck and keep us posted - pictures are always appreciated

Been studying on this for about a month but didn't want to put it out there until I tested it. I have 1.1 but need some heavier for the DL. I'm about 250 plus I like the DL for just chunking some Insultex in during shoulder months. I had to brush up on my math as I have gotten old and forgot a lot. Your correct that great minds think alike.
