I was interested, because of something I had read elsewhere, and was encouraged to check out this site. I did, did the research, and went with the HH exped asym (there werent as many choices then, but I am still EXTREMELY happy with mine!!). Have since had it modded, and only sleep on the ground when I roll off my bed

I can honestly say this all came together as a random act. I was searching tents for a thru-hike next year and I occasionally look at hammocks for just the fact that they're a great place to nap anywhere and then I came across the HH site. This spurred interest, I was then in a conversation with a cyclist who had one and he let me borrow it for a week or so and I hung it several times in my studio and slept in it and then I was hooked. from there I found this site lurked awhile joined, read lots of the threads, I'm overwhelmed and excited that this community exists with all this great info. I've read all the other sites spending countless hours reading just jeff and risks page, a few trail journal's by hangers and then I was convinced. I bought my Clark NA about a month ago, haven't had a chance for a real hang yet but have set it up in my studio and when out for day hikes just for practice. I thank you all for your banter and info, I'm trying..... not .......to .........become a gearhead but it's inevitable. the great thing is that everyone here seems to think outside the box and this is right up my alley. I can't wait to get out there and now it's the search for a stove and a pack and a tarp,........ All I can say is thanks for being here.

I saw a Youtube video review of the Hennessy by RVOps and fell in love with the concept.

I stumbled upon Sgt Rock's and Shane's sites, the the HH site before I purchased my first one back in 05. I added my Speer soon after. I still have my collection of blue wally world pads and a bunch of Reflectix in my garage for winter camping, then graduated to a nest and peapod as they became available. Heck, I even have one of Ed's old synthetic top quilts that I recently converted to a summer weight UQ for the heck of it....yes, I am a gear junkie, but I also have two fused discs in my neck and need two more fused in my lumbar section, so hanging is about the only way I get any sleep in the woods! Still debating on the BB or BMBH, since I am a side sleeper. At 245 I am a little heavy for the BMBH right now....need to lose 20 pounds AGAIN, lol....

    Hello,

I bought my first hammock (HH) because I wanted one for my mission in Sudan. The second one (Clark NA) I bought because I liked the possibilities.

For my UQ and tarp I voted for reading the HF like a junkie

    I like it here!

Gotta agree with brain overload comment. It's very hard to decide what you want/need in the hammock world. So many options. So many opinions.

Going to he Hennessy site I could easily get myself setup with a hammock and insulation.

Down the road I'm sure I'll try other options, but as a newbie HH offered a simple path.

When I saw Grizz's hammock setup in Maine last summer, I knew I would be getting a hammock. HH was the only camping hammock I knew, so I bought a used Expedition on Whiteblaze. It was about a pound heavier than my tent. Then I found out there were lighter ones, so I bought a used HH Backpacker on Ebay. Then I started hanging around here.... After a not so pleasant night in my HH Backpacker (granted it was used, but the velcro didn't stay shut) I decided that I had to have a Blackbird. Now I own three hammocks.... lol! Should'a done the research and saved the money for an UQ...

I researched before I bought. But this was before HF so I suppose I'm old.

Still, thank's to HF I do have an ideal for me set up now. AND have met alot of great people.
When you have a backpack on, no matter where you are, you’re home.
PAIN is INEVITABLE. MISERY is OPTIONAL.

must have been a different Grizz or my evil twin Skippy. I've not yet been to Maine.

Glad someone showed you the True Light though.

Grizz (who has yet to visit Hawaii, Arkansas, Mississippi, South Dakota, Alabama, and Rhode Island as well as Maine).
