I will have some extra poles. You can get bait at the visitors center. Unless that has changed. Should be able to catch some bream during the day or catfish at night. I don't know what the SC fishing license fee is now, but it was reasonable.

Non resident fee is now $35.00 for an annual permit. They used to issue a 14 day permit for a much lower fee but no longer.

Resident fee is $10 for an annual permit.

Good point. I know Georgia did the same thing. My guess is that since I have an account with the SC DNR I can still get the 14 fishing license for a cost of 11 dollars plus a 3 dollar processing fee. I already paid and printed mine out just in case they try to raise the prices. I did not see on the website where they still offer the 14 day.

Glad to see you got it Tacoma. I go to the DNR meeting held each year and for some reason the low price of the non resident permits always seems to be a topic that is complained about. I always have been in favor of the low pricing thinking it brings more out of staters here, thus spending more money in the local economies. But I'm always in the minority on the subject.

Apparently the more vocal crowd has gained a victory

In NC they charge 18 dollars for a 10 day non resident fresh water license. Go figure.

I just don't understand, making a nonresident purchase an annual permit is crazy IMHO, think about how many nonresidents just don't come to SC because of the annual purchase requirement.

A few year's ago, DNR started requiring a separate annual salt water license for residents. We used to be able to surf fish or fish in the marshes without a permit. Many local coastal residents depended on fishing to feed their families. Now, they must pay for it. So, for residents like us who live in the upstate, who get a freshwater license for local lakes and ponds must buy a salt water license when vacationing at the beach if we wish to fish.
I just wish DNR woulf make the licenses good for one year from date of purchase instead of July-June.

Junebugdawn that has been discussed but from what I hear it was determined that the cost to change the systems software was going to be to high so it's been canned.

There will be at LEAST one Amok hammock at the FS this year, I think Cali will have one too (if she doesnt sell it before )~!

Were getting closer to the final count down, so make sure your calenders are clear!
