    What tarps for your BBXLC?

I set up my XLC with a WL Tadpole tarp and had about 8-10in coverage at each end. Should that be enough if I set it up right? Just wondering what tarps other XLC owners are going with. Really want an excuse to order a cuban fiber tarp but with only a couple of hammock camping nights under my belt I have a hard time justifying the purchase.

That should cover you, although I've read here it's best to have about 12" at each end. That comes from one of Sgt Rock's posts on his Ghost Hammock.

I have a Superfly for my xlc but I too am thinking of a Cuben upgrade...

Suggest 11ft ridgeline length minimum. 12' is plenty.
    Doors are always handy.

Very pleased with Wilderness Logics Old Man Winter.
Never regret carrying it, the extra shade/coverage is appreciated on a regular basis.

I have the tadpole with 11' ridge line. but it just seems light on overhang on the ends. Need to test it in the backyard before I get caught out in a heavy rain on the trail.

Using my BC USA 12x10. Perfect fit.

Arrowhead Toxaway is a great option. Superfly and the aforementioned OMW are great if you want doors (I have all three). Agree that while 11' will work, 12' tarps work a little better for this hammock.
It is a very alert, active sheep, with a stylish, lively carriage.

I use a Juki & Pfaffs w/ assorted attachments, and have serviced lots of vintage machines. Any questions?

    Hg cuben standard for me.

An 11' ridgeline tarp is enough coverage, even better so if it has doors.

I have an HG cuben, often I offset my tarp so that I have less coverage at the end the prevailing wind is coming from and just close the doors at that end. This gives me more coverage at the opposite end where I most likely keep the doors open.

Great to have options if you can afford them. I have found W.B. "multicam" super fly works well. Raise attachments to trees up high when hot, no rain. Also i read on H.F. that C.F. does not do well in extreme heat and full sun. This may not be an issue for you. Great idea to ask lots of question since some of those "options" just become gear in storage we never use, in my experience. As noted in many other discussions if ridgeline is very long you may miss out on some tree locations to camp and if just barely long enough may get a little wet or be tight if you get pinned down for hours or days by a major storm system. Find your own sweet spot. Have fun.

I ordered the Superfly. It seems to be a great bargain for what you get and they are well made according to the folks on this site. I ordered 2. One for me and one for wife. I hope they are as great as the reviews say. I'm pretty excited about it. I was going to go with the Winter Palace but at 400 bones, it was just too steep for me since I new and starting this hobby is VERY expensive as I have nothing. LOL...

This all started with my son getting me a 39.00 MSR Pocket Rocket and a can of gas this last year for Christmas ... he said "dad, check this out <held out the pocket rocket> and then said, "wanna go camping?" then it was over... He's 30 and Im 50 and cant wait to spend quality time with my boy out in the woods. Im stoked.
