And to add another point, my pack works just fine under my feet/legs; no 'extra' pad required. Plus, we are talking about a summer trip. I don't need anything under my legs till temps get in the high 30s to low 40s.
I'm not even sure that argument would work for a winter trip in my case. Again, the pack goes under my feet/legs and probably gives me a better layer of insulation than a pad would while also providing the knee break that many people enjoy.
