    Seat Belt Tree Huggers

Just wondering what is a good overall average lenght for tree huggers. Have a WB XLC, never been outside yet ( X-mas ). My wife works at a dealership and grabbed me some seatbelts. So I'm new to hammocks and would like to make some straps. I just don't like the idea of wrapping pine slimmed webbing around my new XLC. The trees I would be using in Northern Ontario are on average 6" to 12 " Dia.... I am thinking 4 foot and 6 foot lenghts.

I would go with 6'. That's coming from a guy who uses 12 footers so take that for what it's worth.
    Good luck,

I have a WBBB xlc @ use 8ft. My personal opinion I wouldn't even try 4ft. And 6ft isn't very versatile if you happen to get a spot with bigger trees

The path you choose in life. Should lead straight to a Hammock!

I'm also assuming that you're using whoopies/ucr along with your straps and not a strap only system.

Strap length to go around the tree is pi x diameter or roughly 3xD plus lengths to make loop(s). I have tied into 4 ft Hennessy straps in the ranges you are talking about. That does not leave room for a knot.

If you have the strap suspension I might consider using two lengths of 2 in seat belt sewn together to make a long tube maybe 15 inches long that you could slide over the 1 in webbing to make a resin collector...
    YMMV

5' too long is better than 1" too short. I'd look at around 10' as a minimum but YMMV.
