LF a Hex Tarp w/ Doors Pattern!

As you could guess I plan a DIY project.

I'd like to sew my own tarp, and I need a pattern.
I DONT want a winter tarp. I want a tarp that can withsatand heavy rain with winds, and thay may close its doors for a full wind coverage.

    Here's what I thought:
    RL 11"/335cm
    8.5"/ 260cm wide

    How should I draw it?
Do you have any advice on thoses dimensions?

Its actually has 11' ridge and is approx 10' wide but it should be easily scaled to 8.5' wide

I have to ask...what is the difference between a winter tarp and a tarp with doors that fully close? Is the width all you are referring to?

    Thank you for your reply.

One of you has already done the adjustment?
I'm new to DIY, so I dont know if I need to scale it by ratio, or by respecting certains measurements...

@gmcttr: I might be wrong on the term winter tarp.

    I'll be clear:
Winter Tarp Long, and wide tarp with full coverage and huge room inside.
Tarp I want: medium/large tarp, usually opened up. not much room inside when doors closed

If my definition is not the generalised one, please let me know

We are in the process of making a tarp for my wife using the same pattern as shared above. I own a large plotter for my business, so the plan is to scale up the drawing and plot it out at actual size on some paper. Then we just transfer the paper pattern to the silnylon and we're good to go.

Bobwhite215: good luck, please share the result.

I'll try the above DIYGS tarp tuto, but I'll reduce a little the dimensions, I dont need that much room.

What would be the minimal wideness for a 10.5" RL tarp with doors?

Two pieces of nominal 60 in fabric hemmed on 3 sides and sewn together on the fourth side which is a long side. That gives a rectangle roughly 9.5 x 10.5 or start with something another foot longer. Put 4 corner tie out points and ridge tie outs. Hang it with hammock and use trial and error with some binder clips to pick two more tie out points on the long edges where the tarp can be folded in to make a semi door. Forget hex or cat cut. KISS principle basic answer to what you want. If you make the hems 3 layers thick and ~ 3/4- 1 in wide it will bury the edge and be strong enough not to need patches at the edge tie out points. I would patch the corners and maybe the ridge line depending on how it is handled. YMMV.
    YMMV

How many trees does it take to make the tarp? It's actually fairly easy to draw it out on the fabric on a floor. Especially since the tarp is very symmetrical, all you have to do is fold it in half both ways (or if you haven't yet sewn the ridgeline, just fold both sides in half once and pin them together) and draw the lines/arcs with whatever will be visible.

No trees at all. I own a sign company, and we throw away paper release liner like crazy. I usually hang on to some of it to repurpose for things like this.
