For winter I use a 12X14 rectangular 70D PU coated HEAVY, with a simple center pole mod.

It was once a dining fly from the BSA supply

The ends can be pulled together, only using 2 tie downs with lots of center room

I would, if your not concerned about wieght and it makes you happy then why not? To me its all about being cofortable, its a car camping tarp, not the one to go out hiking with!

Marty at WL made me a 12 X 15 tarp a few years ago. It's my group tarp for river rafting. It's on his website....Wild River tarp. Not cheap, but super nice. I think he will make whatever you want?

Have to agree with Zilla. Would be great for car camping and short family trips. Not sure I'd want to lug a 1.5-2lb tarp too many miles through the back country. Of course if you go CF the weight would be much more manageable. Not sure what it would weigh but if be interested to know...

If the tarp was being shared by multiple hangers you could justify the extra weight. But i also agree it would be more of a car camping tarp

You consider 1.5# to 2# heavy for a true winter tarp!?! OK
One of if not the best winter tarps in our hobby is the WB Superfly at 19oz.
There is no comparison between a SF and any cuben tarp in true winter storm conditions.

When I was a kid the only time we were in the house was to eat and sleep.

I would love one, but this seems to be yet another time my interest in a product greatly exceeds the budget.

Id buy one... I originally was going to special order a 10x13 to fit over my thunderbird, but i'd buy a 12x14 for extra coverage!
