    grand trunk vs. bliss

I've been scouting around the site and it seems like not many people have the Grand trunk skeeter beater no see um or the Bliss no see um hammocks.
My wife has been calling dibs on my WBBB leaving me with my $20 no bug protection hammock. I dont have a sewing machine. Or I could probably sew a bug net speer style to it. I can't afford another WBBB right now.

So I started looking for cheap'ish alternatives. I came up with those two in mind.
I've read the specs for both size and weight, either one fits the bill.

Has anyone had a chance to use or see the two to compare, quality, build, comfort ?

I know the owner of grand trunk is a member here, is the owner of bliss here too ?

    Thanks.

I actuallt use the Grand Trunk skeeter beeter pro. It is by far my favorite hammock. I have not tried the hammock bliss. The skeeter beeter is a very comfortable hammock with all the room you have in it.

I second that opinion. I use a skeeter beeter pro. It's very comfortable. I haven't tried the hammock bliss either. However, my buddy has a Byer Moskito hammock and he's ready to trade in for a skeeter better.

I'm about to trade my skeeter beeter pro in for a skeeter beeter UL since it's almost a half pound lighter. Although it is a foot shorter too.

Ive used that bliss lots of times. It has always served me well. I just tossed on a ridgeline and off I went. I still have it as my back up should I need it or for when a mate wants to use.

I've got the Grand trunk UL hammock. its holding up fine, but doesn't feel like it will last as long as the Parachute nylon. from the pics it looks like the skeeter beater UL only has a single zipper. and the SB pro has a two way zip.

MY SB Pro only has a single zipper. I would have really wanted 2 zippers on it. With the hammock being 10'6" long and me being 5'9", I have to stretch fairly far to zip it all the way up. 2 zippers would have taken care of that problem.

My UL Skeeter Beeter has been in near constant use for about 3 years. It got a short repieve (6 mos?) while testing the Grand Trunk Hybred, I put a small (1/32" x 1/16") hole in it with a failed safty pin experiment a few years back, patched with duct tape but there is nearly no wear on the hammock body.

Due to a modification of the bug netting I made, the zipper wore out in the first 18 months. But remember: I changed it, AND it gets nightly use! (zipping/unzipping 8+ times a night)

anyone know where to get the Grand Trunk SB UL in camo ? its on the GT website but has a much higher price tag than other sites.
Its strange the Bliss no see um, is listed as weighting more than the SBpro. even though its smaller. I think bliss might include the weight of the hanging system, where the SB pro doesnt. Could the different netting have that much of a weight difference ?

The double zipper on the skeeter beeter pro is anew design. The original Sbpro did only have a one way zipper. Also new on the SBpro is elastic net loops which should reduce the damage of the netting, where in the old design the SBPro had nylon grosgrain tab on the netting supports. There are also tie out loops on the sides of the new designed SBpro. I actually have both and I like the newer version alot better than the old.
