Dutch Buckles

Took awhile but I found my early (original ?) version of the Dutch Buckles. They do work.

I have a disclaimer, but I send a lot of product out and I am not there to make sure every piece is set up correctly, and I don't want anything bad to happen from my neglect.. I think the solution is to add a back up knot to the instructions. That way if they are used upside down or backwards they will still hold. Admittedly if you set up in the dark, it is hard to tell they are oriented the right way, with the larger slot towards the tree. I liked it that it didn't have a back up knot but it is a good failsafe. I need to determine if that is the correction and then I need to get new instructions made and printed. In the meantime, kick back in your hammock and enjoy living.

You could put something on the top edge to distinguish it. Like what you see on the spine of some knives. The backup knot is still a good idea, even though I've never had a problem with mine slipping.

I agree but if there is a problem, even one out of thousands, it is prudent to take a look at design and instructions to make sure they are as good as they possibly be. I want people to have 100% confidence hanging on my hardware. It is much more important than the sales.

This stuff moves slow. Every design change requires two weeks to get cut and then I have to pull test it. I know there are many fans out there of the Dutch Buckles and I hope to have it done with in a month although I will most likely have to change the instruction card and that is another three weeks.

I am discontinuing the Dutch Buckle, at least temporarily. There was an incident where it was used incorrect and it slid down the webbing. It was a slow release but it tore up the webbing. If I could suggest an alternative, the Strap Buckle does the exact same function.

A simpler buckle in titanium would be a good idea for many people. Faster and less chance they will use it incorrectly. Personally I like the Titanium version of the Dutch Buckle, only minor problem for me is that it is slightly slower to adjust than some other options I have tried.
