Calling all from Kentucky...Looking for a good 3 day loop @ 8 miles or so a day in the Red River Gorge.
Anyone got any suggestions?
Thanks

Grays arch to rough trail then pick a loop back. Beautiful trip, enough of a challenge to feel like you earned some cred, but easy enough to be enjoyable.
Haystack to double arch is epic as well.
Both are in my top 3 all time trips.
Directionally challenged...comicly so.
Not all who wonder are lost...But I'm probably just lost.
We did some similar routes a couple of weekends ago. We day hiked Auxier Ridge loop and then drove to Koomer Ridge parking lot for a big counter clockwise loop. Took trail 220 to 221 and camped the first night. Then 221 west around Grays Arch to 223 and camped. Then 226 and back down 220 to the cars. Be aware that lots of the camping spots are closed off for restoration with no alternates offered. There were signs and ropes up everywhere. Their land management practices need some work. There is one epic campsite that we stopped for lunch at. It's off of 221 to the north before it intersects with 227 down a side trail. It's on the outrageGIS maps.
Thanks guys! I will look into both of those. Really appreicate the info!

I second HomeMadeHikers trip. I may do this soon as well.
To add to the above recommendations - You could start at Martin's Fork and take #221-Rough Trail to make a loop back around to #209-DB Hut Trail. #221 can easily be varied in length with a few choices (#227, #100, #220). And, there's some nice unmarked trails that could be tied in.
Another option could be the Auxier Ridge area - Star Gap Arch, Double Arch, Courthouse Rock. I could spend a couple days exploring Star Gap Arch.
From Bison Way TH you could take #210 up to #100. There a few unmarked trails you could take (I would not recommend Indian Staircase or bypass with packs). Then you could cross the road (715) for some exploring then back track to an unmarked trail (can't think of the name) and connect back to #100 or back down to 715. I've hiked some of the trails in this area and tried to think about how to tie some of it together. But, I have not done this.
If you staged a car you could make a nice loop from #240-Osborne Bend, some unmarked trails, #100 down to #210-Bison Way.
This might get some more input in the Southeast region.
