    Tactical Cord

I picked up a hank, 90', of Neon Green "Tactical Cord". This is probably "275 Tactical Paracord 3/32" 4 inner strands and a diameter of 3/32" (smaller than 550)"?

(Neon Green is "tactical"?? Well I suppose it might be if we ever decide to re-conquer Key West and the Conch Republic! )

I was told it had 300# breaking strength but if it is nylon then it will stretch. Anyone know how much this stuff stretches? Just curious, I am _not_ going to suspend anything critical from this stuff.

Yeah it will probably stretch at least some. Even if its not nylon, it will take some tension to tighten up the weave. I would guess it wouldn't stretch more than a few percent, but unless it was marketed as static cord, it will move some. It'll make a nice clothesline I'm sure.

I threw up and slept in my Ridge Runner last night in the back yard. I used the cord as part of an ersatz CRL. If it stretched it was minimal. But I did make sure that the cord was tightly strung.

You're a better man than I. If I'd thrown up in my hammock I'd have gone back inside.

I don't know if it stretches more or less than 550 but heres a link to a 550 paracord stretch test done by Boothill a couple of years ago that may be of interest... https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...d-stretch-test

Interesting. Well when I get passed my last buying $pree I will get some Zing-it to replace the tactical cord. Till that happens it'll have to do.
    Thanks.
