Lake oconee hang, Putnam County, Ga.

I originally posted this from phone and not sure which region i posted to so re-posting to correct region.

When i introduced myself I said I was retired, well thats not quite true. My wife Barb and I run Lawrence Shoals Campground for Georgia Power 3 months out of the year. We close Sept 14th and I have permission to use the campground for a group hang after we close. We have a tent area as well as RV area, both have picnic tables, grills and plenty of trees

The pics are of tent area and I think that would be the best since it is close to the lake. There are showers and restrooms, a large covered Pavilion with group size charcoal grill if we want to have a group cook. Water and electricity in the area. Also we have 15 miles of hicking, bicycle trails and some off road mountain bike trails. Boat ramp and a boat dock in the tent area if you have boats, kayaks canoes whatever. We also have two archery ranges, standing and 20 3d targets. Also bordering the campground a wildlife management area archery only for those so inclined. If interested I am thinking maybe early October but anytime ok after Sept 14th. We are located 25 miles south of Greensboro on Ga hwy 16 halfway between Eatonton and Sparta. Also a playground for small children, and there is the Rock Hawk Effigy on the trails. This is a Native American artifact, there is a viewing tower for this and also a walking history museum of the area. Fishing, boating, hiking, eating and most important hanging. I have never been to one but have access to this so thought I would give it a shot. No charge for campground or anything. If y'all are interested I will go for it. Maybe we can set a date after some inp

I have been thinking about the date and the 17, 18, 19 of October would be good. Temps should be nice and still comfortable for outdoor stuff. Normally We have very few mosquitoes here by the way. If we want to have a group feed i suggest bring whatever you want hot dogs burgers, we can just get together at the pavilion and cook it all up. That would be the easiest. I will take care of the charcoal for big grill. If someone has better way i am open to suggestions. I would prefer to keep it simple. No quiche. I really wanted to go to the raven cliffs this weekend, since I have never done this. I look at it this way this is a great place plenty for everyone to do without much involvement from me. We will have free reign of the campground. We have a tent area and an rv area with 49 rv sites elec and water. Plus large day use area and you may hang wherever you please. Plenty of just woods also. If we have tenters or someone that needs to use camper bring it that will be fine. This is going to be a diy hang so bring your own fun. No traffic paved roads so bring the kiddie toys. I will work up a info packet with trail maps, campground maps and other stuff for everyone.

I'm just down the road and would love to be there or at least visit if not hang. I'm running the AthHalf Half Marathon on the 19th, and so will be sleeping at home on the 18th to get up early and be at the race. However, if at all possible, myself (and maybe the wife?) will make every effort to show up at least one evening. Many thanks for organizing it (and for the info that GA Power allows hanging in their sites; I was wondering.)

It's been cancelled. See the post two above yours.
*Formerly "kleinrider"; no longer own any Klein bikes, so figured a change was in order.

    Charlie,
Does Ga Power allow hanging in their camp grounds year round? I fish Oconee a lot. Normally I just drive over since I am only an hour away but if I could hang I may like to stay for a few days.
