    UK New guy

    Hi all

I'm Matt. I bought my first hammock (a DD Travel with 3x3 tarp and under-blanket) a couple of years ago but never got round to using it. Test setups in the garden didn't work too well, then I met someone and was happy to get her camping with me. I've pulled it out again this week and hope to test it in our new garden this weekend.

I'm coming from a slightly different perspective as I'm a motorcyclist and I take trips each year around Europe. This means space is a real concern but not necessarily weight. This year we're taking a year off and going to Scotland in the summer, so I'm hoping to take the hammock there too. I've been watching a lot of videos and reading about hammocks and I'm looking forward to it. I'll be testing around the Cotswolds before hand.

Hope to add some rings soon as I saw them in Jimmy McSparron's video and looks pretty cool.

    Anyway, hi guys.

    Welcome from Florida!
It's a good idea to test things in the garden.

Welcome from Amsterdam! It's a bit tougher to find all the nice gear in Europe, but there's some good stuff to be found in the UK.
Wonderful you're taking a year off! You must be looking forward to that :-) Enjoy both your time here and on the road. It's a friendly bunch here. Also, watch some Shug TV: look for shugemery on YouTube, he's created a great hammocking for noobs series that is both packed with info and fun to watch.
    Happy hanging!
Still getting the hang of it

Welcome to HF from Scotland! DD hammocks gear is pretty bombproof and good quality so I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

    Woohoo from Chester UK.
Best place in UK to get top gear is here http://ukhammocks.co.uk/ but be carefull as it's really addicting. Also there is a ton of good folks and info on bushcraftuk.com.

Once you get it right tents and ground will look very uninviting.
