    Newbie in Rochester, NY

I bought a ENO doublenest hammock last year and used it a little. I now have interest in using it in the winter for ADK trips so I constructed a very heavy underquilt over the weekend. it is way to bulky to backpack with but it is probably okay for car camping. Having fun though with DIY projects. Learning quite a bit already from your forum members, so thanks for your knowledge and willingness to share.

Welcome to Hammock Forums from another "Upstater". Rochester has some great places to hang, I've done a couple of "stealth" overnights in Powdermill Park over in Pittsford. Great test bed area, easy to bug out if you get too cold, but of course you can just sleep with a pad, I do that sometimes in the summer.

Welcome. I think it'd be cool to do a Rochester area hang sometime this spring or summer. I think there are a few of us out there.

I am usually in the ADKs or Finger Lakes areas. I've been tempted to stealth camp at Mendon Ponds too, mostly just to test gear. Seems to be the most remote-feeling park in the immediate area.

I'd like to add my endorsment to this great idea. . .in exchange, of course, for being included in the invitation.

There certainly are. I also spend most of my time in the Adks and along the FLT corridor.

As far as others joining a "rochester area" hang, anyone willing to make the drive is ok in my book. For some, they would likely be driving less than me to get where I would plan a trip.
