I've been wondering about this for a while; with cat cuts, do you use gross grain or just fold and sew/hem it? How do you sew on an angle like that instead of a straight line? Obviously, this can be done, but I not a sewer yet. I picked up my mother's old machine and am going to practice, but I just wonder how difficult it is to sew curved angles.

It is more difficult but doable if you go slow and pin it. The grosgrain really gives a professional look and hides many mistakes. Practice with scraps first.

I'm curious if this would work as the inner layer of an UQ? Similar to using Cuben as a VBL.

Conventional wisdom says that you don't want a non-breathable material for your quilts. That being said, if you are going to use silnylon on a quilt, I would use it only on the inner layer of an UQ. But, you would be better served with vapor barrier clothing.

Ordered some brown. Think I'm going to try a Hex Tarp and a Grizz Beak out of it. Hope I can get them done by MAHHA.

What would you say: Is it "scary" light or "wonderfully" light for use as a tarp?
