Anybody made a wind "cover" for a Warbonnet Blackbird?

I was going to make a complete wind sock for my Warbonnet Blackbird and then decided to try making a simple cover instead. I'm making the cover out of 1.1 ripstop. It will close around the gathered ends with velcro. On the sides I"m going to attach the cover to my Hammock Gear Incubator with shock cord and mitten clips. (The Incubator has 3 D rings per side I can attach the cover to). I made a complete wind sock for my Hennessy but for the Blackbird I'm going to try a simple cover instead and see how that works.

Here's a link to a pic of the pattern I uploaded onto this forum. I"ll update this thread with the completed cover once I get it finished (just ordered the materials today).

Anybody made a wind "cover" for a Warbonnet Blackbird?

I made one a few years ago. I used an extremely breathable 1.0 ACU ripstop nylon. You could blow through it with hardly any effort. (I was afraid of condensation). Worked like a charm.
I simply set up my Blackbird and made every measurement down, across, diagonally, etc. I then cut the fabric to these dimensions plus 3" all around. I hemmed it with slots 3" deep at the head & foot ends and at each tie-out. I added Velcro tabs at each of these slots.

Sounds interesting. Is this to simply reduce or eliminate drafts on windy nights/days?

I think he's talking about a simple top cover.

For some reason, your link didn't work for me. I think this one works. http://www.arrowhead-equipment.com/s...rito_Oven.html
Homer: Sir, I need to know where I can get some business hammocks.

Hank Scorpio: Hammocks? My goodness, what an idea. Why didn't I think of that? Hammocks!

This ORIGINAL POST is almost three years old to the day.
Socks and UQP were just coming into popular useage.

Hammock gear especially socks, quilts and UQP are now common with much written on DYI or purchase from several vendors.
