    Continuous Ridge line question

I have been playing around with my new Cloudburst Tarp and Ridge Runner hammock. Still very new to this, so I like the idea of a continuous ridge line with small prussic loops for the tarp so it can easily be centered over my hammock. If I drape the tarp over the top of the ridge line should I be concerned with the tarp wearing as it rubs on the ridge line? I know I could suspend the tarp underneath, but then I give up the ability to hang stuff on the ridge line. I am sure this has been covered, but I could not find the thread.

I use the continuous ridge line using amsteel with two carabiners with one connected with prussic knot using bank line. The bank line holds really well on amsteel. I have not noticed any wear on tarp, most of the time tarp is not touching ridgeline. I have been using for a year underneath no problems.

I use a zing it ridge line with Prussians and run it over the top mad have never noticed any wear. I have a cuben tarp that I use as my primary tarp and it seems fine.

It's strictly a personal preference thing. The community is nearly evenly divided on "under or over". Try it one way on a trip then the other way on the next trip. That's what I did and found my own preference.

Thanks for the advice. Will probably suspend it underneath and use the saddlebags on the hammock to store my gear.

Personal choice. I had my RL under my tarp at first. But never hung anything from it. So switched, plus I figure there is less chance of rain dripping down the RL onto my belly.

As stated, it's mostly personal preference. I feel I get a better pitch with my Cloudburst if I use individual lines on each end or hang it under a continuous ridgeline.

That's such a good idea that I used it with a Stingerz in my second photo.
