I'm new to vbulletin4 so I don't have all the answers. After briefly looking over the documentation I don't see any built in user tagging/mention functionality. I do see some plug-ins but it's probably not something we'll add right now.

I found this link to turning on tagging in vBulletin

@octothorpesarus - is this something that we can have available on HF?

I find myself constantly participating in threads that I think other friends/members would like to know about. I wish I could tag them using the linked Mod, which would notify the user about the thread. This works similar to what most of us already do on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.

What you are looking at is an add-on plugin for vbulletin 3.x. We're running vbulliten 4.x. We need to upgrade the version of vb that Hammock Forums uses very soon so the answer is not right now.
