    Versatile Tarp?

Ok, I have a WBBB hammock, yet i am looking into a tarp. I've really been looking at the warbonnet superfly, but I would prefer to have something lighter weight. Any silnylon tarp recommendations? Maybe the WB edge tarp? Mamajamba? all or any responses are greatly appreciated.

P.S. Im looking for a sil-nylon tarp with good coverage.

Cuben fiber is definitely the lightest, but quite expensive.

    Edit: Just saw sil-nylon

What about a diamond tarp paired with an underquilt protector or a sock? That way you'll stay warmer, and if wind does push rain under your tarp, it will only hit your sock and fall off then.

Yes, the edge tarp is pretty versatile... The door kit is awesome, I bought the full kit and sold half here, the 2 doors are enough for me and provide plenty of coverage.. only really needed for gusty - multi-directional wind, rain...Nice to have just in case at hardly any weight penalty..
We would be one step closer to world peace, if everyone slept in a hammock..

There are as many answers as there are tarps.

I find I get good coverage from my Tadpole with a single door kit brought along for my head end. My Tadpole is 15.3 fully rigged with CRL, 8' guy lines with tensioners, snake skins and a stuff sack. The door kit adds another 3.5 ounces. 18.8 all in.

Good luck with your choice! There is no wrong answer.....

Well, I bought the superfly, and I cant wait! But I have to... Will paracord work fine for the tie outs?

No. Paracord stretches too much. Let me rephrase - it will work, but there are much better solutions out there that won't stretch. Zing-it, braided Mason line, spectra cord etc are all better options.

Good choice. I don't think the Superfly weighs any more than the Edge and a set of doors for one end, does it? And it gives you a lot more options. Have fun!

As noted in a previous response, paracord will work but it's probably not the best solution out there. Zing-it, or mason line works. Night ize reflective guy line cord works also. JRB also offers self tensioning lines that you can buy that will pretty much keep your tarp tight in a multitude of situations. Their link is:

Good luck with whatever you decide. I have a Superfly and it is awesome. You're going to really enjoy the protection that it provides you.

    All the best !
