    !st Diy

just got into hammocking so I figure i would attempt a 3/4 UQ, I had an old down sleeping bag laying around. ordered some 1.1 oz ripstop from DIY gear got some mosquito net for baffling, layer it out and got the thread injector out. would have helped to know how to use it properly after a couple scraps being stitched together I started. made the quilt with one side still open. now is the time to transfer down, seems easy enough. cut open bag remove and stuff by hand. Bad idea my garage looked like I had a fetish for feathers. so break out shop vac little neater till you open said shop vac. took a short break will drank a beer or two and thought there has to be a better way. Maybe it was the beer but looking around the garage i saw thisKAV2BBL.jpg and figure what the heck remove the bag add a piece of tubing and give it a try. what do you know it worked fairly well no down floating around (well at least not as bad). filled the quilts baffles up as full as i could get them(didn't think about it at the time)
brought the quilt inside and finished the last of the stitching. ( can you say way way way over stuffed I can)
IMAG0043.jpgI guess its nothing a seem ripper and some time can't take care of. that and maybe a scale to actually weigh the down might help a lot. I can say
its warm might weigh a bit to much for anyone thats not taking a Uhaul to the woods with them. oh well its was kind of fun to do.

    Sweet! That sure looks WARM.

I have nothing but respect for you - trying a down UQ for your 1st sewing project takes guts.

Anything with more ingredient from the urticacea family. Perhaps 90 min dogfish head...;-)

Nice job in the construction of your quilt! What is that tool that you used to stuff down?
