    Test night went fairly well!

Hi all just wanted to say I did a test night in the backyard on friday. Wanted to test out a sleeping bag underquilt I converted, my new WL big daddy tarp and the new set of turtledog stands I built. I was surprised how cold the quilt took me. The low forecast showed 34 so I thought I would get cold right away and have to bail out. The quilt was a kids 20 degree north face bag and I figure I could get maybe 40 degrees out of it. I climbed in and got comfy and it was very warm. It was already 40. Fell asleep and woke up at about 430am and it was down to 34 I was still warm! Awoke again at 6 temp was down to 26 now. I was definitely cold now. So I figure bout 35 would be a safe low for that quilt. The turtle dog stands worked very well and the big daddy tarp is extremely nice good coverage! uploadfromtaptalk1396231066478.jpguploadfromtaptalk1396231108578.jpg

That WL Big Daddy is a nice looking tarp. Glad the test night went well and you found the limits if your gear. I guess, in a sense, every night is a test night. Always improving and trying new things. Long live hammocking.

That is very true syb! Yup I am really happy with the tarp. Need to make some tarp tensioners made up for it though.

Congrats on the test hang to find out the limits of your gear. Nothing worse than being out in the woods and finding out the hard way a piece of gear does not work as it should or you thought it would.
