Well, 2 weekends in a row backpacking. After last weekend solo trip in Bandelier, https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ing-trip-Video I hooked up with Priller whose ankle was feeling better, and jrs62284 who just moved to New-Mexico from Wisconsin, for a little trip in the San Pedro wilderness. I am planning this summer to do the the 200+ miles CDT section from the same start to Pagosa Springs, so I thought it would be nice to be familiar with the first few miles. I think we were, at least I was, expecting a nice spring hike with some snow on the trail here and there and a low in the 20's. What we got after the first 5-6 miles was postholing knee deep on unbroken trails and a low of 12ºF. The further we went the crazier it got, so we decided to do a one night versus two, considering we didn't have snow shoes, or boots for that matter, and it would have been all postholing (see the last minute of the video) for the last 10miles or so we were thinking of doing on the second day. It certainly was a little challenging at times but a lot of fun! Hope you enjoy....
P.S The car shots at the very beginning is probably 20 minutes from the trail head. Who would have thunk we were gonna hike in 2+ feet of snow! That's what I like about New-Mexico. Oh and elevation were we slept was around 10000ft
