When I first looked at the JRB, I noticed the set of 6 (Tarp Line & STL Set for 11' x 10' Tarp) described as:
"Tarp Line & STL Set (11' x 10' Tarp): This set is ideal for the JRB 11'x10' Cat Tarp,
and any other large tarp requiring up to six tie down lines and two ridge tie-out (suspension) lines.
It consists of three pair of Self Tensioning Lines (STLs) and two matching ridge line cords.
The set weighs a total of 2.9 ounces."
Here are the things I personally didn't like about the JRB STLs (as I build my ultra light set up, to replace my current medium weight setup):
- the 6 JRB STLs came to 2.9 ounces or 82.2 grams, mine came out to 42 grams or 1.48 ounces (Half the weight and WITH LineLoc-3)
- the JRB STLs use "two mil un-rated nylon cord ", I prefer 100% dyneema for strong, durable, tangle free usage
- the 6 JRB STLS cost $27.95, mine cost ~$14.10
I'm not knocking their stuff, just that this is the Do It Yourself section of the forums. One would expect to prefer doing it yourself over buying in this section of the forum. There is a whole area for product stuff ;-) Just say'en...

I'm making some self tensioning lines using glowire from Lawson Equipment.
5/32" ID, 9/32" OD and 1/16" wall seems to work well. Getting it over the knot can be tricky. A slightly larger OD and ID might be easier.

Wow. Good luck.
I found that soaking the tubing in hot water for a minute allowed for easier manipulation of the tubing.
