Hey all-
Much like torbushscout, I'm also a scoutmaster and avid camper in Georgia. However, I've yet to actually do any hammock camping.
I got interested in hammock camping when my son (with no previous hammock experience) showed up at the last campout with a Walmart special, hung it between two trees, plopped into it with nothing but a sleeping bag and slept like a baby all night (it got down to about 40F). Unfortunately, not knowing any better, he used the line that came with it to hang it, and by morning, the cheap line and stretched and swollen so much they couldn't get the knots untied so they simply cut it down.
The next week, I went to REI to find something to fix it and got interested in the assortment of hammock gear (doesn't that always happen at REI?). I won't go into all the details, but as a hard-core gadget lover, it caught my interest to say the least, and now I'm looking to take the plunge next week.
Lots of questions, but I'll save those for a different post.
Thanks!
