    Stormy Camping Moisture

This weekend I had my first storm and rain camp experience with my hammock. I was out with my Warbonnet Blackbird with Superfly which kept me dry, comfortable, and warm. When I awoke I noticed that everything was moist and damp which I was not surprised considering how much rain and wind there was the night before. However when I reached out and touched my tarp it was quite wet. I have never seen this much moisture on the inside before. Is this normal and I am over reacting or do I need to coat my tarp with some sort of water repellent??

Normal. I camp in a lot of inclement weather and love the sleep one experiences with the pitter-patter or rain on the tarp. High precipitation, humidity and dew point cause condensation.

    Lamboy,
It seems pretty normal around here.
My walls get quite damp by morning. It is worse when you 'batten down the hatches' with a low pitch.
Don't worry, you'll wipe off a lot of it on your way out from under the tarp in the morning .
I make sure to hang my tarp up inside for a good number of days afterward to allow it to dry out completely.

Well I definitely had the hatches battened down and it was a pretty low hang. I left it hanging outside all yesterday to dry out before I took it down today so I think it should be ok. I am just glad I am not the only one to experience this.
