Tx / Texoma Cross Timbers (overnight) 4-12-14

Due to conflicting schedules I've decided to reschedule this.

Going to do an overnight at Texoma. Others are welcome.

My plan is to park at Juniper Point West, hike in a little and set up camp (maybe a mile or so, but somewhere before Cedar Bayou). If some are interested in more hiking, it's available. It's a 14 mile trail (1 way) so you could put a few miles down if that's your thing.

We'll see if we get anymore interested folks and then decide if this will be a family event or something more geared toward the grown ups.

Argh!! I've been waiting for one of these to pop up nearby, but the birthday party for the little one will keep me away this time around. Y'all have a big time!

Wish I could. This is my last weekend of the 2013/14 Orienteering season. I'll be out all day and half the night at Tyler State Park. One of my favorite places. Don't think we are camping out however.

Bummer. I've been wanting to go back and hang with with y'all, but I've committed to the GI Joe con with my son this weekend. Dag. I love me some Texoma.

I don't mind rescheduling this if ends up just being me. I was basically just putting this together because I saw a few people in the DFW that seemed to be interested in a group hang

Would live to go, but I'm booked until first weekend in May.

I had promised to help teach a kayak class at lake Whitney this weekend so may not be free. And most weekends for next few months are very busy but when I can break away I would like to join you there by land or water. Way points of camp sites would be helpful. I should probably get off my lazy backside and hike it instead of paddling in with excessive gear and food but might be able to bring an extra boat for you and dog. Also i'm OK with camping 52 weeks a year so not concerned about weather, but being by water when temps are above 100°F is a good idea. When possible I prefer to camp in the mountains during July and August but time and gas money are not easy to find so any place with a battery powered fan and a hammock will do.

I won't be able to make it this weekend either. My brother and I were talking about heading out somewhere on the 26th. If ya reschedule and it happens to be that weekend, you can count us in.

Just got back from Cross Timbers on Saturday. There's a great site about 3/4 of a mile in from Juniper Point. (It's actually the first site if I remember correctly) There's easy access to water and lots of places to hang. The only downside is that it's a little close to the trail. I'll have to join you folks sometime.
