Red River Gorge, Kentucky > 2014 Trips

Hello HF - I'm new to the forum and just checking on any trips to Red River Gorge this year. I'm about 2 hours away from RRG and had the opportunity to visit this past weekend for a day trip. Now, it's time for a 2 or 3-day hammock hang

We are looking at planning a trip there, but no solid details as of yet.

Storytellertn > Sounds good, keep me posted. I'm heading through Nashville on my way to Memphis tomorrow morning. There is a Tiny House Building Workshop this weekend and I'm hanging in my WBBB for the event.

Cool. To bad you couldn't join us for the Bear Island hang tomorrow night. My 12yr son and I will be in our WBBB's as well. Looks like I'll get to use my new HG Cuban tarp early evening.

    Hey Guys -

It looks like I might be heading to Kentucky on business during the last week of August. I am contemplating staying an extra night to go camping. Anyone interested in meeting me at Red River Gorge on Friday the 29th, hiking a few hours, setting up camp, spending the night, and hiking out on Saturday morning?

I plan on going down some more this year. I've only made it once this year (Trip Report). But, summer is typically my off season for backpacking...I'm looking for those months that end in R!

I just purchased the book "Hiking Kentucky's Red River Gorge: Your Definitive Guide to the Jewel of the Southeast". Planning a trip in mid October to December. Looking forward to the book.

I've found Hinterlands and the Red River Gorge Trail Guide very helpful. He goes off on some personal rants. But, once you get past that there's good info.
