    First SnakeSkins experience...

Ok so I hate putting up my tarp. I have a huge 12x12 Kelty Noah and it is very cumbersome to get out of it's original sack, and on the ridgeline. I use a continuous ridgeline with a syberian hitch on one side, and I tighten it with a Niteize figure 9 on the other end. I clip the tarp on the ridgeline, either above or below depending on the situation, with carabiners and prussiks.

I saw a thread the other day suggesting a very cheap snakeskin made out of shower lather thingys. Anyways, I tried it for the first time yesterday, and wasn't impressed.

I know my tarp is heavy, and might not be ideal to use with a snakeskin. But how do you guys put up your tarps? Do you use a Continuous ridgeline, or two tie-outs? I had my tarp on my soulders trying to tie the end with the Syberian hitch, and when that side was up, the weight of the tarp gave me a hard time to get the RL tight with the figure 9 at the other end.

Any tips will be more than welcome! Thanks guys.

Dutch stingerz and snakeskins. Potent combination for me and close to idiot proof, but I do test it every once in a while

I have a kelty 12 also and tried the shower puff skins it worked ok. i use a CRL that has prusiks attached to it i hang first. I attach my tarp to the prussiks with small biners center and get it tight and this has worked for me in testing. I use a 3rd wrap on my prussik to better grip the line I'm using. Tge puff skins ate pretty fragile and seem a little to large for the tarp. But for the price its worth trying a few times before dropping cash for a more expensive system if you don't like them

That is exactly how I had it setup yesterday. I did notice the puff skins were fragile, especially aroudn the biners and figure9. My main objective was ease of deployment, but I didn't factor in ease of hang.. Like you, my puff's diameter was too large, and the tarp wasn't very compressed.

I use a stuff sack for my noah 16 tarp. I just keep my tie outs(I don't use CRL) at the top of the bag and tie it out with a truckers hitch. haven't used the tarp except in winter. my main tarp is the old man winter which is in HH snakeskins with no problems.

Mesh anaconda(?), it's one long snake skin. And I couldn't live with stingerz. Totally worth it in the ease of setup. My favorite Dutch gear. My tarp is setup and staked down in just a few minutes with that combo and take down/put away is just as easy.

I recommend mountain goat snake skins as well. They are light and fit my mamajamba tarp really well.
