Tarp door issues

Use 2 stakes per door. When entering and exiting unstake 1 side and restake from the inside. You'll risk tearing the tarp otherwise (if you catch your foot on it, for instance). Ask me how I know.... it's a lot of fun cutting and resewing a ridge seam.

I have the same tarp. I just leave one door unstaked as an entry/exit, and keep a couple of small binder clips (a.k.a. multi-purpose joining and fixing appliances) to close up the door when needed. Easy to open in the dark or when you're in a hurry. Or especially when you're in a hurry in the dark.

I find that the the Superfly is plenty big that there is no reason to use separate stakes for the doors to angle them outwards like a beak. I just run each door straight across to the corner D-Ring with shock cord. To go even lighter I'm going to modify this method and use a small shock cord loop on each corner D-Ring and then use the Dutchwear door hooks to clip off to the shock cord loops.

I got the tarp door hooks for this exact reason, just haven't set it up yet. I plan on splicing the door hook onto a short length of Lash-It larksheaded onto the doors and use the shock cord loops on the corner tie outs like you're mentioning. That way I can also use them to clip to the side pullouts when I secure the doors open.

I think I may have one or two of those tarp door hooks I got with a grab bag. I will try them and see how that works. Thanks guys for all ya'll help.

I've kind of fallen into a pattern of setting the head end of my tarp into the wind if possible. This allows me to lap the doors shut (no stakes just tied to the opposite corner) on the windward end and leave the leeward doors open. This seems to work well in all but the worst conditions then I'll stake one of the remaining doors as needed. Almost never have all 4 doors closed.

Another option for your entry door is tying it off to something you can reposition like a nice sized rock.
