Not bad for a late night set up. Looks like a great place to hang.
Everyone ought to believe in something....I believe I'll go set up the hammock!

Great nights sleep. 2 little trout caught and released before I woke up. I was forced to rig tighter than I did for my practice run and it worked out to be much comfier for me. If I can improve in that tonight I will be in heaven. Gonna pick up some carabiners and straps today to widen my options.

How were the temperatures? I froze my butt off a month or so ago near Waiouru.

Taupo was ok with just a leaky thermarest and cheap sleeping bag. I froze in the wind my first night the kaimanawas. Macgyvered up an undertarp and threw all my spare clothes in with me for night 2, a little chilly still.

On the road again today so I picked up a couple of closed cell sleeping mats and a kiddys sleeping bag to stuff them in. Will hopefully be a bit warmer cos we're headed south.

I went through the same, I have now made a cheapie DIY sleeping bag modded underquit. I am not sure how cold I will be able to manage with it, but pretty sure it should be ok for 3 seasons.

I am heading down to the south island this week and will be camping, I think I shall be warm enough, but the wind issue I do not have a solution for.
