I hiked down there today. It was busy - I saw 7 people and a dog on the trail. I was down at the campsite for about an hour in solitude though. It's a nice area, with some fantastic big ol' trees. I want to try the other two trailheads as well.

BTW, I finally did my writeup of my trip to the campsite last weekend. Because I want to retain my copyright, and because it's not specifically about hammock camping, you can see my pics and read all about it in my blog (http://hikeinthewild.com/2014/05/11/harris-ranch-trail/).
I just thought that readers of this thread might want to see more pictures of where we are going.

I put everything in there. There's even room to hang my hammock, right above the keg, where I can see the TV easily. (LOL)
I have a range of packs in my closet, but have used this one on recent trips because I needed to carry a lot of gear and I got used to the comfort. I often pull sherpa duty. On this trip I used it because it was handy and got my pack weight up closer to 40 lbs (trying to get into better shape again). I'm in the process of moving to a lighter pack, just as soon as I get my top quilt and can confirm the model I have in mind is the right capacity for me. With an Exos 58 I should have my base weight below 18 lbs which is a good place for me. I'll never be an ultralighter though because I like my creature comforts and don't mind carrying them.
This pack is why I offered to help ferry stuff down the hill for you. It may be heavy, but it carries the kitchen sink pretty well.

New job, new schedule mean it's a no-go for me...I have a Tue-Sat schedule....and I can't get that far before dark on the Saturday of the hang. Have fun!
