Purple Palace arrived yesterday and I got it set up today. I'm in love. The corner tie outs are well reinforced and all stitching is straight and neat. The tarp sets up nice and tight. The strap suspension for the tarp is new to me, but was easy enough to set up and should be better for the trees. The tarp looks bluish in the pictures, but is actually a lovely violet purple silnylon. Dale even put purple tie out lines to match the tarp and the string in stuff sack was color coordinated too! Squidbilly (the plain Squidbilly from Alabama) made this and did an excellent job. Some of you saw this tarp at a recent Sipsey hang where Squidbilly tested it out. He made a modification to the doors, then it was on it's way to me. He put little white plastic hooks on the end tie outs so the door can be easily closed. The clips are some upcycled hooks which he saved from going to the landfill. The tarp weighs 26.3ozs with it's 3oz tree straps. I haven't seen this type of strap for a tarp: 2- 15'X 3/4" ladderlock belts. I just ran them through the ridgeline D-ring and around the tree. Easy enough! I think this tarp will be great in the moonlight, which I will test out tonight. Thanks Squidbilly (Dale).
EDIT: I forgot a disclosure. Squidbilly saw where I had posted in Ripstopbytheroll's thread about what color gear we would like. I had posted that if I had lots of money I would like a purple tarp for group hangs. I like purple and have a tendency to walk past my set up at group hangs. He had some purple sil and offered to make me a tarp if I would use it at the group hangs so people could see his work. So this is a demo model. Even so, I still love it!
