Advice needed! My first night in a hammock did not go so well.....

I always have to have something under my knees in all the hammocks I've tried (all 9-10ft gathered ends) or i end up with really sore knees. I've fiddled with various things but ended up resigning myself to just use a small pillow as i was very comfortable otherwise.

I'll jump on the "go longer" band wagon. I've had some trouble getting comfortable in my doublenest and I'm 6'1". Grab a crinkle taffeta table cloth from one of the sites mentioned on here (tableclothfactory.com, or tableclothsfactory.com, or whatever it is) and whip up a longer hammock. If you want ultra comfort and don't mind a bit more weight, get one of the 132" long versions - that will give you a very comfortable lay.

Read The Ultimate Hang. It's great and very informative. My first night wasn't all too great, but after a while it got a lot better with hang angle and lay angle, was great. I sleep on my stomach in a bed, but in a hammock, I've learned I can sleep on my back quite easily.

+1 for The Ultimate Hang. I just got finished reading it and wished I had sooner (before asking so many dumb questions here). It really covers a lot and at $4 for the Kindle version, it's a steal.
