    It's probably better that way, but technically you could use non-spontaneously-combustion-danger-paracord for non-life dependent things, like make shift foot-hold ascenders (attach to your shoes and nothing else).

    Why not just use the stuff that's already on the market like the stuff that Sgt. Knots has that has jute for firestarting, plus 2 strands of spiderwire as well as the inner strands. The stuff in the Kickstarter looks like once you pull out the firestarting core, you're left with just the cover. I don't know if it's infringement at all, but it seems like there's a better solution already on the market. Does anybody know the project creator and see if he can address it?

    The 550 FireCord claims to be waterproof. That's a big advantage over the jute core that Sgt. Knots carries. This is geared towards survival situations, and under those conditions if you need a fire your concern isn't going to be the lowered strength of your paracord. I don't see how having a number of survival paracord options hurts consumers. I doubt there is a case for infringement here but I'm no lawyer.
