    One other thing you can do is look at making a Segmented Pad Extender. If Momma is cracking down on the budget you won't be buying a quilt for a while and an SPE makes pads a lot more comfortable. The one thing I like that is to use polartech fleece for the body side. It is more comfortable than nylon and does not seem to have the condensation issues as much or at all. Here are some links:

    I will agree with your thoughts on the Z Lite. The accordion is nice for packing, but sucks for using between layers of a hammock. Try the CCF pad.
