Warbonnet Blackbird w/ pad

Anyone use a sleeping pad with their blackbird and not have it slip all over the place, or heard or pads designed for a-sym hammocks?

I've used a pad in my BB some. It goes between the two layers of fabric, if you have a double layer. That keeps it in place.

Limited to "backyard" test hangs with the NeoAir alone or in combo with the Oware ccf pad. Both pads are sticky. It's a bit difficult to reposition these pads while in the hammock. NeoAir at full inflation results in a bad lay. Loss of flatness and bit of shoulder squeeze. Deflated to ~1/2 the pad flexes enough to allow a return to the nice BB flat lay with no squeeze. But not as flat compared to no NeoAir.

Unless there is a high chance of having to go to ground doubt if I will pack the NeoAir. Bit of a toss up between the Oware and NeoAir. Bulk vs. weight.

I use either a thermarest or a big agnes insulated aircore. The thermarest (prolite) slides much more, the BA tends to stay put. Personally, I prefer to be able to move around a bit, so the thermarest is my first choice.

air pads tend to move more in my experience than ccf's. getting them positioned in the correct spot in the first place is the challenge, they (ccf's) usually tend to stay put after that. it's easier to roll off an air pad giving the feeling that it's moved, when actually it's you that has moved

I sometimes use a 1/4" 30x60 ccf between the two layers of fabric. works great.

An SPE works terrific with a pad. You can use the shoulder wing pads to help keep the pad in place .....
